Who are the ones artificially raising egg prices? Details from "Joghout"
"Joghout" newspaper reports that "In some shops and supermarkets in Yerevan, there is no egg available. When there are eggs, they are found in small shops, starting at 90 drams. Our editorial office continues to receive phone calls from citizens regarding this issue. According to them, in supermarkets, the price for a small egg starts from 75 drams, averaging 86 drams, while the price for a large egg starts from 100 drams. In small shops and markets, one can buy eggs individually, starting from 90 drams each.
On this topic, Sergey Stepanyan, the president of the Armenian Poultry Breeders Union, provided his clarifications to "Joghout" newspaper. He stated, "We have asked state bodies to examine the movement of eggs from production to shops and out of shops. In our opinion, the artificial deficit is created by intermediary organizations, including our distributors, even small shops. Since March 23, we started egg promotions, and we will soon organize actions where the price of eggs will not rise above 50 drams. However, many are currently profiting from this issue, especially our distributors, whom we have let operate until the Easter holiday. Each of them earns 5-6 drams now; we are directly supplying large networks. But before that, they take the eggs and sell them at small shops for 85-90 drams."
