Erdogan Aims to Make Turkey a Leading Electric Vehicle Manufacturer in Europe
The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has announced a decisive commitment to turn Turkey into one of the important centers for battery production in the world. He made this statement at a conference titled "The Future Vision of Ford's Automotive Industry" held at the presidential palace. According to Erdogan, the "Ford" automotive factory to be established in Kocaeli province will produce not only diesel and gasoline vehicles but also electric cars and batteries.
"Thanks to investments, Turkey will become one of the largest production centers for electric vehicles in the future automotive industry," he stated. Erdogan expressed hope that the first series of production vehicles would be ready by the end of 2022 with the establishment of the factory. He mentioned that their goal is to become a leader in the production of autonomous electric vehicles in Europe within the next 10 years, and to rank among the top five worldwide.
