How the Demand for Onik Gasparyan's Resignation Became Equal to the Demand for Pashinyan's Resignation
Since November 9, a consensus is gradually emerging regarding the resolution of the stormy political tension in Armenia, namely that early parliamentary elections are necessary in the country. No one disputes this anymore, but there are already disagreements regarding the organization of early elections. Some say that early elections should not take place during Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's tenure, while others are not opposed to them being organized under his leadership.
Now, the authorities have introduced a new agenda focusing on the Chief of Staff Onik Gasparyan. Everything revolves around Onik Gasparyan: some argue that if Gasparyan resigns, then Nikol Pashinyan should also resign, while if the latter remains, then Gasparyan should as well. This condition is being set by representatives of all forces that discuss or hold meetings with the Prime Minister.
Of course, there are few who insist that Onik Gasparyan must resign, period. It turns out that regardless of his will, Nikol Pashinyan brought up the issue of Onik Gasparyan and equated it to questioning his future as Prime Minister. It feels as if the demand for early parliamentary elections has been forgotten; the main discussion is now about the resignations of both the Prime Minister and Gasparyan.
Onik Gasparyan has, in fact, unwittingly become a political factor. Additionally, it should be noted that today, former soldiers of Onik Gasparyan have decided to hold a protest action in front of the Ministry of Defense.
