Syrian Mercenaries Fear Azerbaijani Soldiers More Than Armenians, Journalist Lindsey Snell
Independent journalist Lindsey Snell has once again addressed the involvement of mercenaries in the Artsakh war, orchestrated by Turkey. On her Twitter microblog, Snell specifically quoted a statement from a mercenary of the Hamza division who was transferred to Azerbaijan.
The mercenary revealed that Turkey deceived them regarding the purpose of their deployment to Azerbaijan. According to him, they were not accompanied by Turkish military personnel. The mercenaries expressed that they were more afraid of Azerbaijani soldiers, who treated them poorly, than the Armenian soldiers.
Snell also shared a video on her page where the mercenary recounts the circumstances. “When we arrived in Azerbaijan, we were told that Armenians were non-believers, and we had to protect the Azerbaijanis. However, we did not agree,” he said. They were told that the enemies of Islam, the Armenians, had occupied Nagorno-Karabakh, and they needed to defend the Muslims there. The Turks were not with them; they only provided encouraging words, while they were only accompanied by Azerbaijanis who treated them very poorly.
“When we were taken to the battlefield, we were more afraid of the Azerbaijanis than the Armenian soldiers because I have seen how people were killed in Karabakh—not just once. I have seen how Syrians were killed,” he added.
