Azerbaijani Army is Transitioning Completely to the Turkish Army Model: K. Hovhannisyan
Military analyst Karen Hovhannisyan wrote on his Facebook page: “Azerbaijan continues to replenish its army with human resources. Contract soldiers are offered lower salaries than those proposed last year, but citizens are much more eager to serve in the army compared to last year. This indicates that the role and importance of the army have been elevated in Azerbaijani society, making military service more honorable.
At the same time, the Azerbaijani army has begun a complete transition to the Turkish army model, where the focus is on the command structure, and the essential and breakthrough operations are performed by commanders trained according to the Turkish army model. Azerbaijan has also made adjustments regarding troop deployment, strengthening its defenses in the southern sections of Artsakh that have come under its control. It is reported that the Azerbaijani army is also planning to establish a school for junior commanders, or what we know as a sergeant’s school, from which quality squad commanders can be produced for the army.”
