Armenian and Belgian Foreign Ministers Discuss Regional Security and Stability Issues
On December 17, during a working visit to Belgium for the Armenia-European Union Partnership Council meeting, Armenian Foreign Minister Ara Aivazyan met with Belgian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs, Foreign Trade and Federal Cultural Institutions Sophie Wilmès. This information was reported by the Information and Public Diplomacy Department of the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The foreign ministers discussed issues related to strengthening cooperation in bilateral and multilateral platforms, as well as expanding collaboration in sectors of mutual interest. They emphasized the need to take steps towards fully utilizing trade, economic, and investment potential and developing decentralized cooperation.
The heads of the foreign policy agencies also addressed issues of regional security and stability. Minister Aivazyan presented to his counterpart the measures being taken to address the consequences of Turkish-Azerbaijani aggression against the people of Artsakh, which primarily aim to tackle the humanitarian crisis created in Artsakh.
In this context, the foreign ministers particularly highlighted the importance of the direct involvement of the international community, specifically the EU member states. They also stressed the significance of addressing peace settlement issues within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship.
