Red Cross Starts Search for Missing Soldiers in Zangelan from December 9
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has commenced search operations for missing soldiers in the Zangelan region since December 9. As reported by Armenpress, Arsen Abgaryan, one of the commanders of the Ejmiatsin military unit, stated during a conversation with journalists that he plans to go to Kapan and, if permitted, will also participate in the search efforts.
“Negotiations are currently underway to ensure that search operations are conducted in each area,” Abgaryan noted.
When asked why the search operations had not been carried out in that area for so long, Abgaryan responded that they could not do anything without the consent of the Azerbaijani side.
Relatives of the missing soldiers have held a protest near the Ejmiatsin military unit. Samvel Asatryan, a representative of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia, held a closed meeting with the gathered group at the Ejmiatsin military unit.
Since December 1, the parents and relatives of the missing soldiers have been holding protests. The Ministry of Defense has informed them that they are doing everything possible to expedite search operations in the Zangelan region.
