Documenting the Consequences of Azerbaijani Attacks in Gegharkunik
The Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Arman Tatoyan, has reported on the progress of documenting the consequences of Azerbaijani aerial and artillery attacks on villages in the Gegharkunik region of Armenia. The results will be sent to the Representative of Armenia at the European Court of Human Rights, Yeghishe Kirakosyan, in the morning upon his request.
According to Tatoyan, significant support was provided by local authorities, headed by Governor Gnel Sanosyan. It is important to note that on September 27, the Azerbaijani armed forces launched a large-scale attack in Artsakh, targeting even the civilian population.
The Artsakh defense forces shot down 11 helicopters, 4 planes, 96 drones, and 184 units of armored vehicles, mainly tanks, one plane, 82 vehicles, 10 armored personnel carriers, one TOS-1A heavy rocket launcher system, 2 Smerch, and 1 Uragan multiple rocket launcher systems.
The adversary has suffered over 1280 casualties, with 180 in the direction of Karvachar, and over 2700 wounded. According to preliminary data, Armenia has sustained 103 fatalities and approximately 200 wounded, of which about 120 continue to receive treatment, while the others have recovered and returned to duty.
The Azerbaijani armed forces have also targeted military and civilian infrastructure in Artsakh and the Republic of Armenia, resulting in the death of 1 civilian in the Vardenis region and 7 individuals in Artsakh.
A state of war has been declared in Armenia and Artsakh as of September 27.
