A Day of Mourning Declared in Kharkiv Region

A day of mourning has been declared in the Kharkiv region in memory of the 25 victims of yesterday's aviation disaster. The regional authorities have called for the cancellation of entertainment and sports events scheduled for September 26.

The flags of Ukraine on all government buildings will be lowered. Corresponding changes will also be made to the programming of television and radio stations.

Last night, 25 people died as a result of an AN-26 military aircraft crash near the city of Chuhuiv, including 18 cadets from the Kharkiv Air Force University named after Kozhedub and 7 crew members. Two more cadets are in serious condition in the hospital.
