Government Propaganda Machine Circulates Thesis of Gagik Tsarukyan's Imprisonment: Tonoyan
The government propaganda machine circulated the thesis that Gagik Tsarukyan will be imprisoned within the next two days, just hours after information was released regarding a nationwide rally organized by the "Prosperous Armenia," "Homeland," and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation parties on October 8. This was stated by Iveta Tonoyan, a member of the "Prosperous Armenia" faction, on her Facebook page.
"It is truly regrettable that the arguments from the authorities regarding the criticisms raised are so weak, superficial, and empty that they are resorting to their preferred method of silencing political opponents through imprisonment every time. Imprisoning individuals will not solve the problems facing the country, the social situation of hundreds of thousands of families will not improve, external debt will not be repaid, investments will not come, and jobs will not be created. The authorities have become predictable in their petty behavior, to the point that they fall into shock at a mere announcement about a rally. The inequitable and vindictive behavior has become the hallmark of the authorities," wrote Tonoyan.
Recall that one media outlet reported that Gagik Tsarukyan, the head of the "Prosperous Armenia" party and its faction in parliament, would be imprisoned in the near future. It is also possible that the court will make a decision regarding his imprisonment as early as tomorrow, September 23, during the first court session concerning Tsarukyan's case.
