Toyota Prado Collides with Concrete Barriers on Yerevan-Gyumri Highway, Resulting in 1 Death and 1 Injury

On September 9, a tragic car accident occurred in the Ararat region. Around 20:40, the driver of a Toyota Prado with license plate 88 PP 887 collided with concrete barriers on the 51st km of the Yerevan-Gyumri highway under still unknown circumstances, flipping several times.

According to shamshyan.com, as a result of the accident, one person died at the scene, and another was transported by ambulance from Talin Hospital to the "Talin" medical center. Medical professionals provided first aid at the scene before transferring the injured individual to the hospital.

Responding swiftly, operatives from the second squad of the second brigade of the traffic police, led by brigade commander Vache Malakyan and squad commander Hrant Galstyan, arrived at the scene. Evard Aleksanyan, the duty officer at the Traffic Police's 1-77 operational management center, reported the incident to the Talin police department, from where an operational group, led by department head Vahan Nasoyan, was dispatched.

At the moment, a team from the Investigative Committee of Armenia’s Aragatsotn regional investigative department is working at the scene, headed by deputy department head Argishti Kotanjyan. A criminal case has been initiated based on the second part of Article 242 of the RA Criminal Code.

A photographer reported that, to ensure the driver's safety, the inspector of the first squad of the second brigade of the traffic police, Edgar Hovhannisyan, has taken him into custody. Following the investigator's directive, he is being transported to the hospital to check his sobriety level.

Locals at the scene indicated that the deceased and the injured individual were passengers. Under Argishti Kotanjyan's directive, the vehicle is being taken to a secured area of the Talin police department. The police are working to identify the driver, deceased, and injured individual.

Note: A suspect in a presumed crime is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedures established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code through a legally binding court verdict.
