Photos: Three Tombs Vandalized and Looted in Gegharkunik
Three tombs have been vandalized and looted within the administrative boundaries of the Zoragugh community in the Gegharkunik region. This information has been reported by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport’s Preservation Service on their Facebook page.
“Three tombs located within the protective zone of the state significance monument ‘Tomb Field from the 2nd-1st millennium BC,’ approximately 2 km west of the community in the Martuni region of Gegharkunik, have been destroyed and looted by unknown individuals for the purpose of treasure hunting,” the publication states.
The Gegharkunik regional service of the Preservation Agency has reported this violation to the Martuni Division of the Gegharkunik regional administration.
