God willing, we can save the third person. 56-year-old man trapped under debris, Tsolakyan
As a result of the explosion that occurred in Kanaker-Zeytun, there is a 56-year-old man trapped under the rubble of a collapsed building. In total, there are three injured. This was stated today, on August 26, during a conversation with reporters by the Minister of Emergency Situations, Felix Tsolakyan.
He noted that the other 21 citizens who were evacuated have not sustained injuries and psychological support has been provided. According to the Minister, the building is currently completely evacuated.
When asked whether there is a possibility that another part of the building could collapse, the minister said, “The seismic service came and said that there is no danger of collapse at this time. This is a panel building, and they are earthquake-resistant. During the earthquake, these panel buildings did not collapse. No nine-story buildings collapsed in Gyumri. The main work remains to clear the rubble. We will see what comes out from under the debris. Since work is underway and there could be changes as a result of that work, we have evacuated.”
Tsolakyan stated that at the instruction of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the issue of temporary accommodation for the residents has been organized this morning. “Citizens will have a place to stay. God willing, we can save the third person,” he said, adding that they suspect the explosion originated from the second floor.
