PHOTO: The Peak of Ararat Covered in a Layer of Snow

On August 24, the first snow of the season fell on the summit of Mount Ararat, the highest mountain in the Armenian Highlands located in the Agri province of present-day Turkey, reports Ermenihaber.

Recent heavy rains in the region transformed into snow at the top of the biblical mountain. The summit is almost entirely covered in white.

Located 32 km from the Armenian border, Ararat is snow-covered from an altitude of 4,000 meters up to its peak. Recently, a drop in temperature has been observed in the province. The first snowfall on the summit of Ararat in Turkey is associated with the impending arrival of winter and is referred to as the "harbinger of winter." The source notes that after the snow cover, a wonderful view of the mountain has opened up.

The heights of the great and small peaks of Ararat are 5,165 m and 3,925 m, respectively. In Turkey, Ararat is often called the "roof of Turkey."
