Lukashenko Claims He Helped Tikhanovskaya Cross the Border

The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has claimed that he personally assisted presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya in crossing the border. He also mentioned that Tikhanovskaya herself requested this help.

Lukashenko characterized the former presidential candidate as a 'normal woman who loves her children'. 'She has been thrown onto the ashes, and today she is on burning logs. She has been misled by the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry and special services. She has already begun to make statements,' he noted.

The Belarusian President indicated that the financial support promised by the European Union cannot reach the protesters secretly from the authorities.
