We Are Reacting with Excessive Enthusiasm to the Previous Decline in Numbers: Prime Minister
Comparing the situations of the past two to three weeks, we can conclude that we have stabilization in the coronavirus situation. This was stated by the Minister of Health, Arsen Torosyan, at a government meeting.
According to the Minister, the situation regarding healthcare organization is light and manageable: “Considering the economic activity and population mobility, including the number of citizens returning to Armenia, I believe it will be very difficult to have lower daily recorded cases than we have now if the current situation continues.” He also added that they should expect and anticipate that sharp declines will be hard to record, but the established rules and remaining restrictions must be upheld.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also noted that stability is relative because that stability can change at any moment and become instability. “The public is reacting with excessive enthusiasm to the previous decline in numbers. Of course, compared to July, the numbers have decreased, but if we do not respond correctly to the situation, we will quickly return to the July situation. We know that we will have mandatory cases of 2-3 deaths for every 100 new cases. This is not just an issue for Armenia; it is the same worldwide,” the Prime Minister said.
Pashinyan also assured that no citizen will be left without medical assistance, but citizens need to make efforts to avoid contracting the coronavirus.
