Suspicious Substance Found in Package of Inmate at Artik Penitentiary

An inmate at the Artik Penitentiary, V.M., who was convicted for committing a crime under part 1 of Article 104 of the RA Criminal Code, had a package delivered to him on August 19, 2020, by taxi driver and individual entrepreneur A.A. The contents of this package were discovered by penitentiary staff during a security check using modern X-ray equipment.

The package, which was concealed in sunflower seeds, contained 8.53 grams of a substance known among drug users as 'chocolate.' This information was provided by the Public Relations Department of the RA Ministry of Justice's Penitentiary Service. A forensic chemical examination has been ordered within the framework of the ongoing investigations.
