Tensions Rise During Meeting Between Vahram Avetisyan and My Step Faction Members
The "Joghvorud" newspaper reports that details have emerged regarding the closed-door meeting that took place yesterday between Vahram Avetisyan, the candidate for the Constitutional Court judge nominated by the government, and the members of the National Assembly's My Step faction.
According to our sources, the meeting was quite tense and lasted for about three hours. Almost all members of parliament posed questions to Avetisyan, including political ones, to ascertain, for instance, whether elections have been falsified in the past and his views on political processes. Most questions received very brief and evasive responses from Vahram Avetisyan.
"Joghvorud" learned that during the meeting, MPs also inquired about his father, Davit Avetisyan, who had made decisions in several cases related to March 1. However, Vahram Avetisyan stated that he sees no negative aspects or conflicts of interest in his father's actions.
It should be noted that although Constitutional Court judge Vahe Grigoryan has lobbied negatively among many members of My Step faction to prevent the election of Avetisyan, yesterday many MPs understood that the latter is determined and will not take a step back.
It is also worth mentioning that within the ruling faction, there are MPs who are positively inclined toward Avetisyan, as well as neutral ones who don't mind whom the government proposes; they will certainly vote.
