Scandalous Incident During Search of Tsarukyan's Home: NSS and Investigative Committee Clash
According to the newspaper 'Zhoghovurd,' a scandalous incident occurred on June 14 when the National Security Service (NSS) attempted to enter the private residence of Gagik Tsarukyan, the leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, to conduct a search. The NSS unexpectedly discovered that employees of the Investigative Committee of Armenia were also present at Tsarukyan's residence for a search related to an incident that took place at the 'Pardez' restaurant. This case involves Tsarukyan's son, Nver Tsarukyan.
The two law enforcement agencies began to discuss among themselves at Tsarukyan's residence how one was obstructing the other's actions, and it was suggested that one of the law enforcement bodies should leave the area.
According to 'Zhoghovurd,' the Investigative Committee had only served a summons to Gagik Tsarukyan's son to appear for questioning and then left the scene, after which the NSS proceeded with its actions.
The newspaper spoke with Gagik Tsarukyan's lawyer, Yerem Sargsyan, who confirmed this information: 'From what I know, on the same day, the Investigative Committee also delivered a summons during the search. The Investigative Committee has not conducted any searches to this day since there is no court order. In my opinion, the Investigative Committee did not even know that the National Security Service was conducting a search, as this operation is a confidential act, and I don't think any other body should have known about it.'
It turns out that the law enforcement agencies were unaware of each other's actions. The NSS and the Investigative Committee clashed at Gagik Tsarukyan's residence, while the Prosecutor's Office, as the supervising body for criminal cases, was supposed to oversee the situation.
