Suicide Attempt by 27-Year-Old Prevented in Shirak Province; Condition Critical
A suicide attempt was prevented this morning in Gyumri. David T., a resident of Mush district, attempted to take his own life by hanging from a tree in a field near the village of Garibjanian. A woman present at the scene intervened in the young man’s actions.
The victim was transported by ambulance to Gyumri Medical Center. According to Arthur Manukyan, director of the Gyumri ambulance station, their staff responded to the call at 09:28 and found the injured individual already on the ground, having been lowered from the noose. “He had lacerations on his left forearm and was not conscious. It appears that he initially attempted suicide and then hanged himself. Heart function was preserved, and he was quickly taken for examination,” said Manukyan.
Armen Khachatryan, deputy director of the center, stated in an interview with HJ that the young man's condition is assessed as critical, and he is currently in the intensive care unit. “We received him in a critical state, in an unconscious and comatose condition. He suffered from strangulation asphyxia and also had lacerations on the medial third of his left forearm,” Khachatryan reported.
Zarzand Gabrielian, a representative of the press office of the Armenian police, stated that the circumstances of the incident are under investigation. Currently, an inquiry is underway. It is worth noting that David T. is of Greek descent.
