Azerbaijani Special Services Attempted to Extract Information on the RA Armed Forces via Internet: NSS
The National Security Service of Armenia, actively combating the espionage activities of foreign states' special services and implementing actions and measures reserved for it by the law in the field of information security, continues to reveal the criminal aspirations of Azerbaijani special services and to counteract ongoing anti-Armenian actions directed against the Armed Forces of Armenia by Azerbaijani users on various social media platforms.
During the operational and investigative measures carried out in this direction, information has been obtained showing that the special services of the Republic of Azerbaijan continue to register fake accounts in the names of Armenians living abroad on social media and present themselves as business representatives or former members of the RA Armed Forces. They attempt to extract military-related information during communications with Armenian military users or their relatives.
The operations of Azerbaijani special services are so primitive and homogeneous that the military user-soldiers of the RA Armed Forces understand almost immediately from the very first remarks that they are dealing with an Azerbaijani 'powerful scout' and cease communication, promptly notifying the relevant authorities. Despite this situation, there are still individual service members within the RA Armed Forces, including among the command staff, who naively believe they are communicating with their former colleagues or subordinates and discuss military service-related issues during correspondence.
It has been revealed during the operational and investigative measures that an employee-user of Azerbaijani special services using a fictitious (fake) account on the social network 'Facebook' established a correspondence with a senior officer of the RA Armed Forces and attempted to extract information regarding the RA Armed Forces from him.
The National Security Service once again urges citizens of the Republic, especially military personnel, to refrain from interacting with unknown users on social networks and not to discuss topics related to military service. Individuals and service members who find themselves in such situations are requested, in their own interests, to promptly contact the National Security Service.
