Criminal Case Investigated Against Former Chief of Investigative Committee Arghvan Hovsepyan
According to the "Haykakan Zhamanak" newspaper, a criminal case has been initiated and investigated regarding Arghvan Hovsepyan, the former head of the Investigative Committee and former prosecutor of Armenia. However, the case has taken a different course.
Sources from the Investigative Committee have stated that several investigators were appointed during Hovsepyan's tenure as head of the Committee, raising concerns about the appropriateness of the investigation into his case being conducted within the same body.
As a result, the leadership of the Investigative Committee has decided to transfer the criminal case to the Special Investigation Service, taking into account these circumstances.
The "Haykakan Zhamanak" newspaper could not ascertain the specific article under which the criminal case was initiated against Hovsepyan, or why the former chairman of the Investigative Committee has come under the scrutiny of law enforcement. However, it is evident that this is related to his official activities, and it is possible that law enforcement agencies have obtained further details in this regard.
The "Haykakan Zhamanak" newspaper reached out to the Special Investigation Service for a comment to understand whether a criminal case regarding Arghvan Hovsepyan is being investigated there, but in response, the Service did not provide any comments. This information is extremely confidential.
