Who Will Review the Request to Arrest Tsarukyan
The request to arrest the leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, Gagik Tsarukyan, will be reviewed by Judge Robert Papoyan of the Shengavit District Court in Yerevan. This information was confirmed to NEWS.am by Tsarukyan's lawyer, Emin Khachatryan.
It should be noted that Gagik Tsarukyan has been implicated in a bribery case.
The criminal case is related to the alleged instances of vote-buying involving the Prosperous Armenia Party during the 2017 parliamentary elections.
Recall that on June 16, the National Assembly approved two motions presented by the Prosecutor General of Armenia, Arthur Davtyan, regarding lifting Gagik Tsarukyan's parliamentary immunity and his imprisonment. The Prosperous Armenia Party and the Bright Armenia Party did not participate in the voting. Seventy-seven members of the 'My Step' bloc voted in favor of both motions.
