Tragic Car Accident in Kotayk Province: Casualties and Injuries
On June 14, a major and tragic car accident occurred in Kotayk Province. According to Shamshyan.com, around 2:00 AM, 59-year-old Samvel Arakelyan, driving an Opel vehicle, veered into the opposite lane at the end of Garni village on the Yerevan-Garni highway under still unknown circumstances. The car struck an embankment and, rolling over several times, ended up in a gorge.
As a result of the accident, passenger Anahit Danielyan died at the scene, while driver S. Arakelyan and other passengers, including 63-year-old Andranik Markosyan, 53-year-old Anahit Arakelyan, and 47-year-old Artak Martoyan, were rushed to the Erebuni Medical Center in critical condition.
Rescuers disabled the vehicle, secured the area, and subsequently brought the body closer to the ambulance. Hours later, the hospital reported that the injured A. Martoyan had succumbed to his injuries without regaining consciousness.
A criminal case has been initiated under Article 242, Part 3 of the RA Criminal Code (a traffic accident causing the death of two or more persons through negligence) based on the decision of V. Margaryan. The police and investigative department are determining the full details of the driver, deceased, and injured individuals.
