Criminal Case Initiated for Hooliganism and Violence Against Police Officer in Club
On June 8, 2020, at 01:30, employees of the Police of the Republic of Armenia reported that, in accordance with the instructions of the Chief of the Armenian Government, they conducted a check visit to a club located on Abovyan Street in Yerevan, aiming to halt its operations. A number of customers at the club behaved disrespectfully towards society, grossly violating public order, obstructing the police officers in their duties, and continuously shouting obscenities at them. They also failed to comply with legal demands, during which they committed acts of violence against the commander of the police special forces division.
In connection with the incident, on June 10, 2020, a criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Committee of Armenia’s Yerevan Division for the Central and Norq-Marash administrative districts under part 1 of Article 258 (hooliganism) and part 1 of Article 316 (violence against a representative of the authority) of the RA Criminal Code. Measures are being taken to ensure a comprehensive, complete, and objective investigation of all circumstances of the case.
