Three Young Men Found Dead in Unused Meghradzor Mine Are Cousins

Three young men who were found dead this midnight in an unused mine shaft belonging to Meghradzor Gold LLC are relatives. One of the villagers from Meghradzor told NEWS.am that the young men are cousins. Among them, 34-year-old Bagrat Khachatryan and 29-year-old Hayk Safaryan are married, each with a young child, and both of their wives are pregnant, expecting their second child. The 27-year-old Aram Gogolyan is reportedly set to get engaged soon.

It is noteworthy that the young men were employees of the mine and reportedly attempted to enter the mine shafts using improvised means to extract ore at a recreational level, during which they were poisoned by gas.

Earlier, it was reported that rescuers walked 2 km to retrieve the bodies of the deceased. Five residents of Meghradzor subsequently sought medical attention at the Hrazdan Medical Center for poisoning.
