Tense Situation at Bagratashen Checkpoint: Armenian Citizens from Russia Block the Checkpoint
SHAMSHYAN.com has received reports from the Bagratashen checkpoint where Armenian citizens of the Russian Federation have been staying in their cars for weeks. They stated that they had been contacted by embassy staff in the morning and promised that they would receive a response during the day. However, as of this moment, embassy staff have not reached out to the citizens, leading them to block the road leading to the Bagratashen customs checkpoint.
In a conversation with the site’s correspondent, David Mkrtchyan mentioned that there are currently more than 40 cars present. The road has been closed for 1.5 hours after the assistant to the ambassador promised to provide an answer within 1-2 hours. Now it is already 19:00, and there has been no call.
“A little while ago, the police came and took three people from among us, claiming they would contact the embassy. But now, those three citizens are also unreachable; we have no news from them. They have essentially taken three people. We will keep this road blocked until those three come back. If those guys do not arrive in the next hour, we will resort to extreme measures,” said David Mkrtchyan.
According to David, more than 120 citizens have been sleeping in their cars for weeks, waiting for a specific response from the embassy. However, he claims that they are only contacted when they resort to extreme measures.
