Change in Mask-Wearing Regulations: Citizens Must Carry Masks, But It’s Not Mandatory to Wear Them in Open Areas
As it is known, wearing masks was to become mandatory on public transport and the metro starting May 18, and from May 25, it was to apply to all public places—both open and closed. However, there have been changes in the mask-wearing regulations, and now it is not mandatory to wear masks in open spaces; rather, it is required to have them on hand.
Araratnews.am spoke with the spokesperson for the Deputy Prime Minister and the Armenian Chief of Police, Vahan Hunanian. According to him, there has been a change in the decision regarding mask-wearing.
From May 18, wearing masks will be mandatory in all areas, including transport, but in open spaces, it will only be required to carry a mask. This means that citizens must have a mask with them, but wearing it is not compulsory.
The reason for this decision is that a citizen might enter a closed area from an open one without a mask, claiming they do not have one. For this reason, the presence of a mask in open areas is mandatory.
