Zakhrova Compares Kallas to Shapoklyak
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakhrova, has compared the head of EuroDiplomacy, Kaya Kallas, to the character of the animated film "Cheburashka"—specifically to the old Shapoklyak, who believed that "one cannot become famous for good deeds."
In an interview with KP.RU, Zakhrova commented on Kallas's statement that she plans to impose the "largest-scale" package of sanctions against Russia since 2022. Zakhrova stated, "Shapoklyak also lived by the same principle: 'Those who help others are wasting their time; it is impossible to become famous for good deeds.'"
Officials in Moscow have repeatedly claimed that the pressure from sanctions has not achieved the goals set by the West. Russian President Vladimir Putin has labeled the Western countries' policy of containing and weakening Russia as a long-term strategy, noting that the sanctions have dealt a serious blow to the global economy. Russian authorities have emphasized that the restrictions are primarily harming the European economy.
