62-Year-Old Man Arrested on Suspicion of Violent Sexual Acts Against 8-Year-Old Girl

On May 4, 2020, at 15:45, a citizen reported that in late February 2020, during midday hours, her husband’s friend had committed violent sexual acts against her minor daughter, born in 2011, in the bedroom of one of the apartments on Marshal Khudyakov Street in the Avan district of Yerevan.

A criminal case was initiated on May 6, 2020, under Article 139 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (violent sexual acts), with the preliminary investigation being carried out by the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia in the Avan and Nor Nork investigative divisions of Yerevan.

A 62-year-old resident of Yerevan has been arrested on suspicion of committing the aforementioned criminal act. Investigative and procedural actions are ongoing to clarify all circumstances of the incident. The preliminary investigation continues.
