Former Minister of Education and Science of Armenia Misused Official Powers: Case Sent to Special Investigation Service

The Investigative Committee of Armenia has gathered substantial evidence during the pre-trial investigation of a criminal case under Article 308, Part 2 of the Armenian Criminal Code, indicating that the former Minister of Education and Science may have committed a crime defined by this article (misuse of official powers that has inadvertently caused severe consequences) during their term of office.

As a result, a new criminal case was initiated on May 12, 2020, based on incidents related to Article 308, Part 2 of the Criminal Code, which has now been merged with the ongoing case.

Considering that the pre-investigation into crimes committed by heads of the legislative, executive, and judicial branches, as well as individuals in public service in connection with their official duties, is conducted by investigators of the Special Investigation Service of Armenia, the case has been forwarded to the Special Investigation Service for further investigation.
