Soil Collapse in Potato Pit Injures Son and Kills Father

On May 12, a tragic incident occurred in the Gegharkunik region. Around 15:10, the Emergency Situations Ministry's Rescue Service received a report that a soil layer had collapsed onto citizens while they were working in a potato pit at 1st house on 7th street in Zolakar village, according to Shamshyan.com.

Rescue workers, with the help of villagers, managed to extract the body of 52-year-old Nver Shahinyan from underneath the soil layer, while 29-year-old Avetik Shahinyan, who sustained minor injuries, was also rescued from the same location. Medical assistance was provided on-site by doctors from Martuni Hospital, after which he was transported to the hospital.
