Attack on Man Collecting Strawberries in Geghakert Village

On May 10, 2020, at 06:20, the Vagharsapat Medical Center reported that a 41-year-old resident of Geghakert village had sought medical assistance for stab wounds to the neck and chest, along with traumatic shock.

The Investigative Committee of Armenia has announced that a criminal case has been initiated under Article 34-104, part 1 (attempted murder) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, by the Vagharsapat investigative division of the Armavir regional investigative department.

During the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that between 05:00 and 05:30 on the same day, the 41-year-old man, accompanied by his wife and a resident of Ejmiadzin, went to his land in Geghakert village to collect strawberries. Upon arrival, they noticed an unfamiliar individual, and the man attempted to ascertain the reason for the stranger’s presence on his property. During this encounter, the stranger, with the direct intent to unlawfully take a life, inflicted knife wounds to the vital organs of the Geghakert resident, causing serious bodily harm. However, due to circumstances beyond his control, the assailant did not complete the act and fled the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
