According to 'Zhoghovurd', Food Prices Rise
According to the daily newspaper 'Zhoghovurd', in April 2020, compared to April 2019, a 0.3% decline in food and non-alcoholic beverage prices was recorded in the country, while a 1.8% increase was observed compared to March 2020. This increase was significantly influenced by relatively high price rises for several food products.
'Zhoghovurd' reports that in April 2020, compared to March, the price of butter increased by 2.9%, sunflower oil by 3.8%, flour by 4.0%, rice by 4.2%, lentils by 6.0%, pasta by 6.1%, and lentils by 27.3%. During this period, the prices of cereals rose by 13.5%, including barley by 6.5% and buckwheat by 19.3%.
In the fruit product group, a 9.2% increase was recorded in April 2020 compared to April 2019, and an 8.3% increase compared to March 2020.
In the dairy product, cheese, and egg group, a 3.3% price decline was noted in April 2020 compared to April 2019, while a 4.2% increase was reported compared to March 2020. The price of eggs decreased by 17.2% in April 2020 compared to April 2019, while it increased by 19.8% compared to March 2020.
In April 2020, compared to March, a 1.0% increase in alcoholic beverages and a 2.0% increase in tobacco products were recorded in the country. However, in April 2020, compared to March, a 17.1% and 9.2% decrease in the prices of gasoline and diesel fuel, respectively, was recorded.
Additionally, in April 2020, compared to April 2019, the prices of gasoline and diesel fuel fell by 21.5% and 17.0%, respectively, and compared to December 2019, by 20.8% and 13.2%, respectively.
