4 Illegal Fishing Nets and 12 Shrimp Traps Seized from Yerevan Lake
In recent days, employees from the Environmental and Mining Inspection Body's Animal World Control and Yerevan's territorial divisions carried out a surprise inspection using an inflatable rubber motorboat, resulting in the removal and seizure of 4 abandoned gill nets measuring approximately 300 meters in total length and 12 shrimp traps from Yerevan Lake.
Additionally, 3 abandoned 'Ekran' type fishing nets were seized from the Hrazdan River in the Hrazdan Gorge. The illegally captured fishing gear will be destroyed in accordance with the law after the administrative proceedings conclude.
The agency reports that inspections are ongoing and are covering all hunting grounds and water areas across the country. “We would like to thank Makary Sargsyan, the president of the Dragon Boat National Federation of Armenia, for providing the necessary technical means,” the statement reads.
