Kazakhstan's Border Guards Open Fire on Poachers from Azerbaijan in the Caspian Sea
The National Security Council of Kazakhstan has reported the arrest of four foreign citizens in its territorial waters.
The statement notes that their boat did not comply with instructions, prompting border guards to open fire. Additionally, it was reported that medical assistance was provided to the detainees. The official text does not specify the nationality of the individuals.
The same incident is reported by the Russian news agency Regnum, which states that the arrested individuals are poachers and citizens of Azerbaijan. Furthermore, the Azerbaijani news outlet Hagn reports that one of the citizens died from gunfire.
