China Prevents WHO from Participating in Coronavirus Investigation
The representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in China has reported that the Chinese side has not yet agreed to the WHO's proposal to join the investigation into the origin of the new coronavirus. According to him, a national investigation is already underway, but there has not yet been an invitation to join.
“The WHO continues to send requests to Chinese health authorities and governmental bodies,” said Gauden Galea, the organization's representative in China. He emphasized that the Chinese authorities have not provided the WHO with access to the documents of two virology laboratories in Wuhan, which are considered the epicenter of the virus's spread.
Galea did not rule out that China may not have provided full information to the organization since the very beginning of the pandemic outbreak.
