Suspect in Attempted Murder Case in Aeratsia Surrenders to Investigative Authority

In the Shengavit administrative district of Yerevan, a person wanted in connection with an attempted murder case has voluntarily surrendered to the investigative authority of the RA Investigative Committee. It was previously reported that on February 21, 2020, an individual suspected of committing a crime in the Aeratsia neighborhood of Yerevan fired shots from an illegally held pistol at a citizen inside an Infiniti vehicle, allegedly with intent. However, due to circumstances beyond his control, the suspect was unable to complete the crime, as the bullets struck various parts of the vehicle.

During the inspection of the scene, numerous firearm injuries and bullets were discovered on the Infiniti vehicle. The investigation revealed the identity of the individual who fired shots at the citizen, a 34-year-old resident of Yerevan. A search conducted at his residence, in accordance with the law, uncovered cultivated cannabis plants.

Based on sufficient evidence gathered, the charges against him under Articles 34-104 (attempted murder) and 235 (illegal acquisition, sale, storage, transportation, or carrying of weapons, military supplies, explosives, or explosive devices) of the RA Criminal Code have been amended and supplemented. He has also been charged under Article 273 (cultivating or growing prohibited narcotic substances, psychotropic substances, highly potent or toxic substances) of the RA Criminal Code.

A motion has been submitted to the court to confirm the detention of the 34-year-old man as a preventive measure. The preliminary investigation is ongoing. Measures are being taken to clarify all circumstances of the case and to ensure a comprehensive, objective, and complete investigation.
