Three Freight Cars Derailed
The spokesperson for the South Caucasian Railway, Ruben Grdzelyan, wrote on his Facebook page: "On April 27, there was a derailment of three freight cars in the section used by the Armenian Railways from Gyumri to Talin. An hour later, the consequences of the incident were eliminated, and the cars were relocated to their destinations. No equipment or personnel were harmed.
This line is rarely used—approximately once a month; it is not an actively exploited line. The causes of the derailment are already known, and experts are conducting an analysis of the event to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Additionally, due to the company's 2020 approved infrastructure investment plan, 8 kilometers of track will undergo capital renovation, 17,000 reinforced concrete sleepers will be installed, over 13,000 tons of crushed stone will be replaced, 7 kilometers of the contact network will be repaired, and the electrification station on the Hrazdan-Sevan route will be upgraded."
