Opposition Within the Republican Party: Old-Timers Challenge Serzh Sargsyan
The newspaper 'Zhamanak' reports that longstanding members of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), particularly those who have been part of the party since before it came to power or at least from 1998-1999, are pushing back against Serzh Sargsyan. Their departure is explained by their demand for an examination of the events that took place during April-May 2018 and for a political assessment of those occurrences.
Essentially, the veteran RPA members are calling for party leader Serzh Sargsyan to bear political responsibility for these events by resigning from his presidential position. Meanwhile, other party members argue that there is no alternative to Sargsyan.
More details can be found in today’s edition of the newspaper.
