In Italy, the number of COVID-19 infected surpasses 1000
In Italy, the number of COVID-19 coronavirus infections has reached 1049, with 29 people reported to have died. This was announced on Saturday, February 29, by the head of the Civil Protection Agency, Angelo Borrelli.
“Let’s start with some positive news. Four people have recovered; they are from Liguria. We now have 1049 infected individuals. 29 people have died, and in total, 50 people have recovered,” he said during a press conference.
According to the official, 10 percent of those infected are in intensive care units, while 50 percent are in home quarantine. These individuals either do not exhibit pronounced symptoms or do not require hospitalization.
