Jordan's King Arrives on Official Visit to Armenia

On February 10, at the invitation of President Armen Sarkissian, King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan has arrived in Armenia for his first official visit.

According to the press service of the President of the Republic of Armenia, the delegation headed by King Abdullah II includes his brother, His Royal Highness Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, the King’s advisor on religious and cultural issues and personal representative, His Royal Highness Prince Ghazi Bin Mohammed, Jordan's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, the King's advisor on communication and coordination Bisher Al Khasawneh, and Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Tarek Hammouri.

Upon arrival at Yerevan's Zvartnots International Airport, the distinguished guest was welcomed by Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan.

King Abdullah II is a highly respected figure in the Islamic world, a representative of the Hashemite royal dynasty, and a direct descendant of Prophet Muhammad. He ascended the throne on February 7, 1999. King Abdullah II is also the custodian of the Christian and Islamic holy sites in Jerusalem.

President Armen Sarkissian and King Abdullah had met in April 2019 during the Armenian President's working visit to Jordan, where the Armenian President extended an invitation for the Jordanian King to visit Armenia.
