The Death Toll from Coronavirus in China Reaches 106: New Details

The total number of patients infected with the new type of coronavirus pneumonia in China has reached 4,515, with 106 fatalities reported, according to a statement from the State Health Committee of the People's Republic of China. This was reported by РИА Новости.

Previously, official reports indicated 2,744 patients and 80 deaths. Over the course of one day, 1,771 new cases of infection were confirmed, along with 26 new fatalities (24 in Hubei province, one each in Beijing and Hainan).

In Hong Kong, eight confirmed cases of infection have been identified, in Macau seven, and in Taiwan, five.

Of the 106 deaths, 100 were registered in Hubei, which is the epicenter of the virus. According to Chinese authorities, 976 people are in serious condition, and 60 patients have been discharged from hospitals. Additionally, 6,973 individuals are suspected of having the new coronavirus, and 44,132 people are under observation after coming into contact with infected patients.
