We Will Take Our Children Out of School and Go Out to Fight: Animal Breeders
Animal breeders from the Mkhchyan community in the Ararat region, who are against slaughterhouses and the conditions they impose, staged a protest today, promising to fight against these authorities in the same way as they previously fought for them.
The farmers informed that they have been promised a meeting today at 18:00 with the members of the government, led by their representatives in the Ararat regional administration. “Now, if by 6 o'clock they don’t respond to our questions, if they deceive us again, from tomorrow we will ignore them: we will drive our livestock out onto the road, and let them come and see. If by 6 o'clock we are deceived, and there is no solution to our question, you will see what will happen. Just as we brought our children out of school to fight for this government, we will also take them out to fight for this issue, for a piece of our bread. Mr. Prime Minister, you go to other countries talking about a velvet revolution, feeling good. What are you saying today? We have hopes with you, why do you treat the people this way? We are not asking anything from you, just let us live,” they told Tert.am in an interview.
It should be noted that in recent days, veterinarians and meat sellers have been regularly staging protests against the government's decision regarding slaughterhouses. They state that the government is forcing them to carry out slaughter in slaughterhouses while not providing proper conditions.
