The Maternity Hospital in the Community of Achajur in Tavush Province Is Also Closing
The maternity hospital in the village of Achajur, which accepts around 110-120 births annually and serves neighboring villages, is at risk of closure. In an interview with NEWS.am, Achajur community head Karen Ghaltakhchyan stated that the management received a notice about the closure on January 10, which has caused outrage among the villagers. According to him, just hours after the news broke, residents gathered in front of the maternity hospital.
He pointed out that the maternity hospital is essential for a village with a population of 5,000, as it also provides first aid services. He mentioned that they might direct their concerns to the Prime Minister or the regional governor.
It is worth noting that it was recently reported that the maternity hospital in Maralik will also not receive funding.
