Vladimir Putin is in Turkey to participate in the opening ceremony of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline
On January 8, Russian President Vladimir Putin traveled to Turkey to attend the ceremonial opening of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline.
One of the pipeline's two lines will supply Russian gas exclusively to Turkey, while the other will deliver gas to a number of European countries. Bulgaria, Greece, and North Macedonia have already announced that they have begun receiving gas through the Turkish Stream pipeline.
In Istanbul, President Putin will also meet with Turkish President Erdoğan. They are expected to discuss both economic and regional as well as bilateral political issues.
