Video: 20 New Elevators Replaced in 10 Administrative Districts of Yerevan Now Operational
The pilot program for replacing elevators has been completed. In 10 administrative districts of Yerevan, 20 new elevators are now operational. The cost of this phase of the program is around 190 million drams. It has been implemented based on the main project model.
Buildings were selected considering the wear and tear of elevator components, frequency of breakdowns, condition of the shafts, degree of cabin wear, and several other criteria approved by the Ministry of Emergencies.
Almost 70 percent of the elevators currently operating in Yerevan have been in use for over 40 years, while they are expected to cease operations after 25 years.
There are approximately 3,500 elevators in Yerevan that require replacement. The municipality plans to carry out the complete project within the framework of community-resident cooperation.
Before the full-scale project begins, the Yerevan municipality plans to replace another 100 elevators in 2020. The funds for this have been allocated in the 2020 budget.
