18-Year-Old Girl Steals Large Sum of Money, Gold and Other Items

Officers from the Criminal Investigation and Community Policing Departments of the Martuni Police, led by Department Head Hakobyan and Deputy Head Garik Gerasimyan, have solved a case of significant theft that occurred on December 13 in one of the villages of the Gegharkunik region.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, on December 13, a resident of one of the villages served by the Martuni police reported to the police that at around 21:00, someone had entered their home through an open window and stolen about 1 million drams, a gold chain, tableware, and electrical appliances.

On the same day, a criminal case was initiated by investigator Kocharyan in the Martuni Investigative Division of the Gegharkunik Regional Investigative Committee regarding the incident.

The Martuni police and investigators determined that the theft took place on December 10 at approximately 21:00, and a relative of the victim, an 18-Year-Old named Syuzanna B., was taken into custody by the Martuni police on suspicion of committing the theft.

According to G. Shamshyan, the victim’s relatives repeatedly told the police and investigators that they did not suspect that the thief could be a family member. However, the Martuni police and investigators proved otherwise with facts, stating that “if the thief was not from the house, the swine would not have been taken from the roof.”

According to preliminary information, the victim suffered damages amounting to about 1 million 800 thousand drams.
