Large Quantity of Forbidden Items Discovered in Nubarashen Penitentiary
The Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia reports that the structural units responsible for security within the penitentiary system continue to implement comprehensive measures aimed at ensuring compliance with internal regulations by detainees and convicts, as well as the discovery of prohibited items and substances.
On December 9, 2019, between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM, officers from the Ministry of Justice’s Penitentiary Service and the security units of the Nubarashen Penitentiary conducted unscheduled searches within the facility. These searches resulted in the discovery and seizure of a large number of prohibited items from hidden storage places, including 4 mobile phones, 1 smart watch, 18 chargers, mobile phone batteries, 1 Wi-Fi device, 8 cutting and stabbing tools, USB cables, playing cards, a homemade tattoo device, 12 headphones, and 3 bags with ropes intended for smuggling transfers, among other forbidden items.
Materials are being prepared regarding the incident.
