Government Plans to Establish New State Body in Civil Aviation Sector

The head of the Civil Aviation Committee of Armenia, Tatevik Revazyan, is set to take on another position as the government creates a new body for the coordination of civil aviation in Armenia. This proposal has been put forward by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of Armenia.

The legislative amendments proposed by the ministry to the existing law on aviation in Armenia have already been published on the unified platform of legal acts, e-draft.

According to the published draft, "In order to simplify the procedures related to air transportation, the Government of the Republic of Armenia has decided to establish a National Committee for the Simplification of Procedures Related to Air Transportation." The authority to approve the committee’s regulations and work program will also be retained by the government.

As per the draft, the powers of the head of the newly formed committee will be exercised by the head of the authorized body responsible for the formulation of civil aviation policy, which is currently Tatevik Revazyan, the head of the Civil Aviation Committee of Armenia.

It is noteworthy that a 15-day period has been set for the online discussion of the presented draft, until November 26. After that, it is likely to be submitted for government approval.

The "National Program for the Simplification of Procedures Related to Air Transportation" was first established in Armenia in 2002. The last amendment to it was made on March 7, 2019.
